About us

Ballet classes Bexleyheath

Jennifer Wilkins School of Dance was established in 2004 and is located in Bexley and the surrounding areas of North West Kent, predominately teaching all ages and abilities the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus in Classical Ballet. Classes are held after school during the week and on Saturdays and are kept inline with School term dates. Therefore there are 3 terms incorporating the standard School holidays.

In addition to its routes of Classical Ballet, which remain the core of Jennifer Wilkins School of Dance, we also offer Tap, Jazz, Acting & Musical Theatre, Street Dance and Cheerleading. All of these dance techniques present their own challenge but are as rewarding as each other.

Jennifer Wilkins School of Dance believes that in order to succeed in the dance world it is necessary to have an enjoyable knowledge in all areas and is delighted to be able to give each pupil this opportunity and to be taught by skilled professional Teachers, each with a strong passion.

Girls and boys start from the age of 3 through to 18 years and some are motivated to progress and study GCSE or A Level Dance and even further their dance career at a vocational school or take the skills they have learnt with them to University or other walks of life.

Every class is kept small in order for each child to receive individual attention, gain more enjoyment and to fully understand their objectives. Classes also give the pupils the opportunity to develop their own choreography and learn the repertoires’ of theatre productions. Private lessons can also be taken for those who wish.

As well as ISTD examinations, pupils are able to be entered for RAD examinations to gain recognition of their commitment while achieving a high standard of Classical Ballet. The school is a registered RAD examination centre and children can be entered for examinations at all levels.

Jennifer Wilkins School of Dance is fully insured and all teachers are Qualified and CRB checked.

Aims of the School

Dance School aims

The school aims to conduct enjoyable and rewarding professional classes to pass onto others the joy of dance; as well as aid physical health, develop skills with co-ordination, discipline, dedication & self confidence - all in a friendly environment. These are all values that the ballet art naturally incorporates.

At the end of every term there will be a presentation to parents / relatives from every class to aid your child's performance skills and give them the opportunity to demonstrate their progress.

The pupils will gain the skills to attain the formal recognised Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) and Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) qualifications, which will help them to pursue a professional dance career if they desire.

The school aims to offer every pupil the chance to perform in a show. This will give your child a great sense of achievement for their work in the studio.
